Repring dog damaged lawn after it has been sprayed
In recent weeks, we have received several e-mls from readers who need help with repr work to their lawns that was damaged by the application of weed and pest control by a professional pest control company.
Although most of the damage is associated with the use of weed and pest control, the fact is that the damage can be caused by any form of lawn mntenance, like applying herbicides, fertilizers or insecticides.
We have received several calls from readers who have already had calls from the professionals who were hired by the pest control companies to fix the damage.
Damage from weed and pest control
It seems that most calls received from readers are after weeding or pre-emergence application (spraying the pre-emergent weed and pest control in late April). In those cases, the client just wants to know how to repr the lawn.
The first step is to contact the pest control company that sprayed the lawn to find out the cost of repr and discuss the cost. The company could have sprayed several lawns at the same time and the cost for reprs would be less if the damaged areas can be identified and only need one person to repr.
Some companies would have specific guidelines that will need to be followed, while others are not so strict. For example, they may say that, the repr will be done at no charge and if we do not want to pay for repr, the damage will be limited to 3 percent or 5 percent of the lawn.
The next step is to assess the damage and decide whether repr is needed. To assess the damage, try and see if you can see all of the damage and if so, take pictures with a digital camera or smartphone to help you determine the extent of damage.
If the lawn is small and not very important, you can mow the area and that might be enough to get the weeds and grass back to healthy looking.
In cases where the lawn is larger, the repr could be much more extensive. If you can identify where the damage is, try and see if you can repr the damage yourself. In some cases, if it is a large area, a tractor or large truck might be needed to move heavy debris. In other cases, it might be possible to repr the damage by using a brush or leaf rake to pick up the weeds and grass from the lawn and replace the damaged areas with healthy grass and vegetation.
To decide on the type of repr needed, look at the size and the extent of the damage.
Depending on what you do, you may need to replace the entire lawn. In some cases, you may need to remove all the old lawn, dig up the soil and replace it with fresh soil and new grass seed.
While many people might choose to repr the lawn, this approach may not always be the most cost effective way to get the job done. With that in mind, you might want to look into some of the following options, that may be more cost effective and get your lawn and landscaping looking better.
Consider Lawn Preening and De-Grassering
If you decide to take care of the grass yourself and do a complete preen and de-grass, this might be the way to go. With that in mind, you might want to consider the following.
If you decide to try the job yourself, you may have a chance to save money on lawn preen and de-grass. The advantage of this approach is that you can have all the old grass removed and the grass seed and soil replaced at a more reasonable price. As a result, you may end up spending less money overall than if you were to hire someone else to do the job.
A good thing to know is that, if you do a lawn preen and de-grass yourself, you will still have a nice looking lawn and shrubbery. However, this type of process does not always guarantee that you’ll have a healthy lawn and shrubbery after the process. Depending on the amount of time and effort you put into the job, you might find that some of your grass and shrubbery dies.
In this case, you’ll need to decide on what is a good solution for the problem. In many cases, the easiest solution would be to just mow the lawn to get rid of the dead grass and then allow the grass to grow in.
What would you say to this dilemma? Is it better to tackle the problem yourself or hire someone else to do it?
