Cat has fluid filled lump

Cat has fluid filled lump of tumor on his abdomen -

I am sure that it will be better that if you can catch the cat and make sure that the fluid is not contaminated, even though the fluid is fluid. Do you know of any way to test fluid to see if it is contaminated?

I am thinking of taking the cat to the vet (I have a list of vets handy... I just keep them there for reference... I am not using my car right now)

I just don't want to treat a cat when I cannot be sure that I won't contaminate his fluids. If this is indeed a contamination issue, the vet will want to start the cat on something that will flush out the fluid.

I do not know about fluid testing in general. I know that any cat that has something nasty is going to have fluid. It will have to be determined in an xray or by your vet doing an ultrasonic doodle.

I think in most states, it is legal to flush a cat, if the water in the tank is not contaminated, so long as it is done professionally.

And you need to clean your filter if you are going to do it right. If you are going to put anything in the cat's system, you need to make sure that the system has been cleaned.

I do know that the best way to prevent an infection in a cat is to have the water cleaned, or filtered if you have a filter. If your tap water is OK, it can be very good to add a drop of "Fluid Guard" which is available at pet stores.

Have you considered adding a fresh water dish? The cats may drink from the contaminated water - and this is better than drinking the contaminated water.

Thanks you for your post and your help. My cats do get plenty of water, the water filter is really pretty good, and I have added some fluid guard and it does seem to help keep it clean. I was thinking of a fresh water dish for them, but you say this is a bad idea, would the cat drink clean water and if so how long would it need to be out before the bacteria would build up in the dish?

I know I'm not an expert, but I also have to keep this in mind: if the water is clean, and the water filter is working properly, if the water is contaminated, the contamination goes to the filter. So the contaminated water would be directed to the bowl and the water would be cleaned by the filter and not in the bowl, right? I've tried to explain this and it may be because I'm not clear. It's also very hard to convince a friend who doesn't understand how a filter works. In her mind the water is clean when it goes in the filter and the bowl is to keep the cats clean.

I'm just trying to make sure I'm right in my thinking.

A filter by definition removes impurities from the water and leaves behind clean water. A filter bowl removes contaminates from water in the bowl.

If a filter is working properly, most impurities will be removed and clean water will remain in the filter bowl. If the filter is not working properly, then many contaminates may not be removed and the water remains in the filter bowl.

If the water is clean, then the water in the filter bowl will be clean, and all that will happen in the bowl is some of the contaminates will be removed and the bowl will not be any dirtier than if it was just a regular bowl with dirt all around the bowl.

If the water is contaminated, then the water will still be clean, and all that will happen in the bowl is some of the contaminates will be removed and the bowl will be dirtier than if it was just a regular bowl with dirt all around the bowl.

This is a very good explanation of the function of a water filter. I hope it makes more sense for everyone now.

That bowl is a water bowl. It’s used for the same purpose as a toilet bowl. If the water is contaminated then it will still be clean. It’s like peeing into a toilet that has no toilet seat. You can still use the toilet even if you have a pee-pee problem.

If you have a water bowl then it will be a bowl that is used for washing your cats.

“When the people fear their government, there is tyranny, when the government fears the people, there is liberty.” ― Thomas Jefferson

“The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the Constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first.” ―Thomas Jefferson

I think that’s a very good answer. That has been the way for many years. The water bowl was not used as a water bowl for washing cats, it was used as a toilet bowl. It was clean for that, and if the water were contaminated with contaminates that did not affect the bowls cleanliness, the bowl would still be clean. But, if the water were contaminated, the bowl would be dirty. So, there were many years of that. That’s why there are so many toilets on the planet.

But I’ve also seen people make water bowls and use it for their cat. And, I think that is perfectly fine. The person did not have a potty trained cat, and so they needed something to use as a toilet for their cat. But they still have the bowl there to wash dishes in and the dishes were washed in it. I don’t really see a problem with that. That is a different issue though, so if you have a water bowl then it will be a bowl that is used for washing your cats.

One of my friends has an indoor/outdoor cat that was just potty trained. And, she uses a water bowl that was for her inside the house, to keep their cat fresh during the evening. I didn’t think that was weird, I mean, the bowl was just in the house.
