Forward momentum pull service dog-assisted therapy
I was at home with my husband, getting ready for work and thinking, "I wish I had a dog right now." So we went out to visit a local animal shelter.
We found a black lab-mix who is really sweet but a bit older. So we decided to go in for the second time and take her home with us. This dog was so sweet and she even gave me a hug. But I didn't think anything of it.
I had a meeting, where she went with me, but was asleep by the time I got home. I fed her, got changed into my business casual work attire and took a shower.
At 6:30 I was in the car on my way to the office.
As soon as I got there, she was in the car with me and I sd, "Why are you here?"
She began to cry.
I put the car in park and got out.
"Why are you crying?"
She ran over to me and gave me a hug.
I realized something wasn't right.
I took her inside and went into my office to call my husband.
I got through to him at home, and he sd, "What do you need?"
I sd, "We've got a problem. The dog is in my office."
And he sd, "Get the car and get home right away."
I realized it's a good thing she was there.
I have a meeting at 2:30, so we drove to my husband's office and put her in the back seat of the car. I made a call, and a friend agreed to take her until I got back home.
I didn't want to leave her there alone in the car.
At 2:45 my husband and I got in the car and left.
As we drove home, I began to realize that I could have been home earlier.
I got home at 5:00, and she was sitting on the couch watching TV.
I gave her some water, got her to go outside for a while, and when I got her back in the house, I noticed that she seemed a little under the weather.
She went to her bed and fell asleep immediately.
I looked at the clock. It was 7:00, and I could go to my meeting.
So I changed clothes, got in the car, and headed for the office.
As I was leaving my neighborhood, I noticed a lady walking a dog who looked like our dog. I honked my horn and she pulled over. I came up, talked to her and she sd, "You've got a dog just like that one."
It was our dog, walking back to us.
I had her sit, gave her some water and took her home.
After I got home, I gave her a couple of slices of pizza and some water.
I went upstrs and took a shower.
I changed and made my bed.
When I was done, I looked in the mirror and realized I was all wet.
So I went to my desk and saw that my laptop was still on.
I went downstrs and put her in the kitchen.
The door was locked and I didn't have a spare key.
I noticed that her food bowl was empty, so I went into the dining room to get a cup to use as a bowl.
I got a cup, put water in it, and put it by the door.
Then I noticed that her dish wasn't full. I figured she must have eaten at my office.
I went back to my office and noticed that it was still on.
I was getting wet agn, so I went into the bathroom, put a towel on the floor, and turned on the fan.
I closed the door and locked it.
I went back to the kitchen, turned off the fan, took the towel off the floor and put it in the kitchen.
I went back to the bathroom and noticed that the water was warm and had a little bit of a chemical smell.
That was not like the water at my husband's office.
I went back to my office and noticed that there was a wet spot on the floor.
I went back upstrs, got changed, put on some flip-flops, went outside and gave her a bath in the backyard.
I was so happy to see her all cleaned up, because she had been laying on the floor and I was sure she was going to be wet agn.
I gave her some water, she ate a few slices of pizza, and then went to sleep.
I was on the phone with my mother and realized that it was time to go to my meeting.
I took her with me, put her in the car and began to drive.
When we got to my meeting, I told her to stay there.
I took a look at my watch and saw that it was 5:10, so I figured I'd go right home.
I went in the building and noticed that it was only 5:15.
So I called home.
"Where are you? Are you still on your way home?"
I sd, "Well, we're going home to get the dog."
"She's been having a rough night. We have a meeting in an hour and I think we should bring her home."
"Okay. I'll be there in 20 minutes."
I called the office. "Can you call my mother? My dog is in the car."
I didn't tell her the rest of the story, because it was going to be too long and I figured I'd tell her the whole thing tomorrow.
When I got home, I noticed that the door was locked, so I figured I was locked out.
I started to get a little worried and called my friend, and she came
