Wildlife photographer of the year: who takes the most beautiful animal photo?

The "Wildlife Photographer of the Year" competition brings in tens of thousands of photos by ambitious nature photographers every year. The contest is one of the most renowned of all nature photography competitions and crowns the most beautiful pictures in different categories every year. In 1964 the BBC Wildlife Magazine founded the international "Wildlife Photographer of the Year" competition and in 1984 merged with the "Natural History Museum", one of the world's largest natural history museums. The competition honors pictures in the categories "animals in their environment", "animal behavior: birds", "nature in black and white", "underwater world" and "wild places".

While the application deadline for the 49th "Wildlife Photographer of the Year" was in February 2013, fans of fascinating nature photos can view some of the winning pictures from 2012 in the "Natural History Museum" in London.
