Almost everyone had soft toys at a young age. Even today the seal is one of the most popular toys for cuddling. With good reason, after all, the animals with their big googly eyes and small fins are just sweet as sugar. A particularly cute example is the Baikal seal. With a length of 1.37 meters, it is the smallest seal in the world and also the only seal species that is native to freshwater only.
The hummingbird is no less cute: at six centimeters (including its beak and tail feathers) it is the smallest bird in the world. The feathered tiny one has it all, however: the hummingbird has up to 50 wing beats per second.
Mini ponies: among the smallest they are the largest
The largest representative in our best list of the smallest animals in the world is the Falabella. The Argentine hoofed animal is the tiniest horse on our planet. In 1978 a specimen was measured that was only 30.4 centimeters (stick size) tall. The largest specimens of the Falabella measure up to 86 centimeters when fully grown.
Other tiny things: dwarf geckos and gobies
Compared to the Falabella, the dwarf gecko is again a real tiny one and lives up to its name. The mini geckos, which are mainly found in Africa and Madagascar, have a maximum length of nine centimeters, the smallest are only four. The gobies are even smaller. The smallest species of fish is only eight millimeters and is almost invisible to the naked eye.
