It is a controversial topic among cat lovers: can you keep the fur noses as a pure house cat? Or do cats belong outdoors as a free walker? There are good arguments for both sides; after all, the velvet paws usually love to hunt for real mice in the garden, roam their territory and live out their natural social behavior with the neighboring cats. On the other hand, there are many dangers outside: cars, hunting dogs, cat haters in the neighborhood or poisonous plants. So what to do?
What domestic cats need: equipment
A house tiger always moves in with a range of accessories. The new, furry roommate needs at least one litter box - better two. There are also feeding bowls, baskets and scratching posts. The latter in particular are extremely important for every house cat. Make sure that your velvet paw is available for scratching at various points in your home so that your furniture is spared. Also offer your darling high vantage points, safe and cozy sleeping places and enough hiding places so that he can retreat if necessary.
Since indoor cats do not have the opportunity to nibble on the grass or to strip off fur, you should provide cat turf to your Stubentiger and, above all, comb long-haired cats, but also short-haired cats occasionally. Domestic cats groom themselves more often and swallow more fur, which can lead to increased hairball formation.

Appropriate husbandry: Make the apartment cat-safe
It goes without saying that cats must be kept away from cleaning agents, poisonous plants or other harmful substances. If necessary, lock cupboards or chambers. Make sure that especially small cats cannot get stuck in gaps such as between the washing machine and the wall. Electrical devices can also be dangerous - not only when switched on. Turn off radios and other devices as completely as possible at night, as they generate ultrasonic noises that the cats can hear and that they find unpleasant.
If your room tiger does have secure access from time to time on the balcony or in an enclosure, make sure that these areas are secured with nets or bars to suit the cat. With a good cat fence, you can also make your garden escape-proof.
Take advantage of the apartment cat and play with it
So that your fur nose does not suffer from boredom, it needs a lot of attention from you as a house cat. Play with her every day - after all, she has no way of living her hunting instinct with real prey in the wild. Hunting games are therefore particularly suitable, but intelligence games are also a great activity for cats.
Of course, you cannot keep your cat company around the clock and, unlike dogs, the velvet paws usually cannot be taken to the office. So that she does not feel lonely when she is at home alone, the best thing to do is to provide a companion of your own to your house cat.
