How to Make a Cake with Peanut Butter and Water That Dogs Can Eat

While some pet parents don't make much of their companions’ birthdays, other celebrate with toys, treats and even cakes. If you don’t have a doggy bakery in your area, you can whip up a fun, festive peanut butter birthday cake in the comfort of your own kitchen.

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. This allows the cake to cook evenly, so start the oven at least 15 minutes before you pop in the cake.

Step 2

Add a few drops of vegetable oil to the bottom of the cake pan and spread it around with a paper towel. This prevents the cake from sticking to the pan.

Step 3

Measure 2 cups flour into a large mixing bowl, and use a wooden spoon to stir in 1/2 cup smooth peanut butter. If the batter is too thick to stir, drizzle in 1/4 cup warm water. The cake batter should be thick, but not so thick you can’t stir it.

Step 4

Mix in 1/2 cup shredded raw carrots, and pour the batter into the cake pan. Carrots are healthy and full of vitamins, making them an excellent addition to this doggy delight.

Step 5

Bake the cake for 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. If the cake isn’t done at the 20-minute mark, cook for an additional five minutes.

Step 6

Remove the pan from the oven, and let the cake cool completely before serving it to your hungry pups.
