If your dog has allergies to grains or soy, finding a store-bought treat is a pain in the tail. With a few ingredients and a little time, your pup will be snacking to his heart’s content.
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Place a 1/2 teaspoon of coconut oil on a cookie sheet, and spread it around with a paper towel to grease the entire sheet.
Place the raw chicken livers in a small saucepan, and add enough water to completely submerge them. Boil over medium heat for 20 minutes, or until they are completely cooked. Strain off the water, and place the livers in a food processor.
Blend the cooked livers into a smooth paste, and add 1/4 cup smooth peanut butter and 1/4 cup cooked carrots. Pulse the food processor to fully combine the ingredients, and then transfer the paste to a mixing bowl.
Add 1 cup coconut flour to the paste and mix with a wooden spoon to make a stiff dough. If the mixture is too sticky to roll into a ball, add 2 tablespoons of flour at a time until the dough comes together.
Scoop the dough out by rounded teaspoonfuls and place them on the greased cookie sheet. Press the dough down with the back of a fork to flatten, and bake for 15 minutes. Let the cookies cool completely before transferring them to your favorite cookie jar or plastic storage container.
If your furry friends are on the small size, scoop out smaller cookies for little, bite-sized snacks.
